Merry Christmas Eve!
It’s Christmas Eve, in case you didn’t know. How cool is that?
I feel ready for tomorrow. The shopping is done, the presents are wrapped, the food is prepped and the iPod is full of Christmas tunes. All that is left for me to do is share with you some of my favourite Christmas stuff.
That is my Christmas tree. If you look closely, you can see that there is a buttload of homemade ornaments on it. I love anything handmade and I don’t care how tacky or trashy my tree looks, I load it up every year. In fact, here are the first home made ornaments ever given to me. My mom made them for my first Christmas. They are too fragile to put on the tree now but I still display them.
And here are a bunch of ornaments made over the years by my grandmother. My cat favours them, as you can see.
Of course ornaments aren’t the only thing about Christmas that I love. am addicted to Saturday Night Live’s holiday skits. Here is one of my favourite little musical numbers from SNL.
And of course we can’t have Christmas without Shweddy Balls.
Of course, I also love Christmas music! You can visit Raine Thomas’ blog, where I have explained my love of the song Santa Baby, sung by Eartha Kitt. Here is the video.
Santa baby is not the only holiday song I am crazy about. Do you recall a little ditty called I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas? I mean, who doesn’t want a hippopotamus for Christmas? Nobody, that’s who.
When I was a kid, it confounded me that other little children demanded such inconsequential things as two front teeth or (sigh) snow when there were hippopotamuses about. Now that I’m an adult, my tastes and desires have (somewhat) matured. I can say without any hint of sadness that my dreams of owning a hippopotamus have all but evaporated. These days all I want for Christmas is a house hippo. Failing that, all I want for Christmas is a hairless guinea pig.
Of course, Christmas would not be Christmas if I didn’t dress my dog in a tacky sweater and make her pose for a camera. Yeah, I know part of me feels sorry for her, too, but it’s totally worth it. Isn’t she fucking adorable?
Plus, I give her lots of treats afterwards. And by lots I mean two.
This is when the cat makes her presence known. She tries to steal the dog’s treat even though she won’t eat them, herself.
Anyway, these are just a few of my favourite things on Christmas! I hope you have a fabulous day tomorrow and don’t forget to have a drink on me.

The pup is adorable, and so is the rest of this post. Merry Christmas, DC!
Merry Christmas, Amberr!
