Friday Spotlight: Adriana Kraft Has a Character on the Loose
I have a very special Friday Spotlight artist offering up a guest post today. Before we get on with it, let me shed some light. Erotica author Adriana Kraft is not just any writer. In fact, Adriana Kraft happens to be the pen name for two fabulous writers who work as a team to conjure up some fabulously kinky stories. Here is Adriana’s bio:
Our tag line is Erotic Romance for Two, Three, or More. Readers may not know there are two of us writing together under the pen name “Adriana Kraft” – my husband and myself. Each of us has always wanted to be a writer. Our careers took other turns first and we met (well, and fell in love and married) in academia, where we’ve both done lots of writing, together and separately. But fiction is lots more fun and we love living out our life-long dream, now our full-time pursuit.
We have over twenty five erotic romance books published at Extasy Books, Whiskey Creek Press Torrid, Love You Divine, Logical Lust and Torquere. Pairings include straight m/f, lesbian, bisexual, ménage and polyamory, with both contemporary and paranormal settings. We hope you’ll stop by our Website, browse our Blog, and sample a taste of our world, “filled with warmth, blazing hot sex, well-developed characters…not for the faint of heart.” (Romance Junkies)
Are you intrigued yet? I know I am…so let’s welcome Adriana Kraft!
Beware – Character on the Loose!
Thanks so much for hosting me today, D.C.!
Sometimes characters simply take over. Hubs and I (who co-write under our pen name, Adriana Kraft) began planning our Swinging Games series at Extasy Books nearly four years ago. We thought it would be fun to focus on a pair of baby boomers who get curious about the swing lifestyle and track their adventures as they take off and explore it. We hoped that would give us an opportunity to write lots of hot ménage sex scenes in all kinds of combinations for three, four or more.
No problem there! But sometimes, when you set out to write a sexy romp, characters have other ideas. Our heroine, Jennifer Andrews, definitely has a mind of her own. She and her husband got curious about the lifestyle because she had discovered at mid-life that she was probably bisexual. Here’s the scoop on how that happened, from the blurb for Book One: Anticipation (March, 2009):
What’s a girl to do? Happily married with all her children grown, Jennifer Andrews has finally figured out she’s bi-sexual – but just turning on to hot f/f fiction and videos isn’t enough. She wants the real thing, and she want to share it with Brett. Addition sounds so much better than subtraction.
All went smoothly until Jen and Brett happened upon a Unicorn – the elusive, much sought-after single female who can make a perfect threesome for a married couple with a bi wife. We truly didn’t know where Jen was taking us (or their marriage, for that matter) when it looked like she was falling in love with Sarah Creston. Books Eight and Nine in the series (Pushing the Limits, Too Close for Comfort) follow the roller coaster ride once Jen invites Sarah to move in with her and Brett for the summer.
Book Ten: Triple Play, released last month, drops us in on the aftermath:
Summer looks full of promise for swingers Jen and Brett Andrews—ever since Sarah Creston’s arrival, three-way possibilities for mind-shattering sex seem endless. Secretly, Jen’s a little pleased their best friends Donna and Ryan Powers still aren’t speaking. This way, Jen doesn’t have to share.
Thrilled with her new lifestyle, Sarah makes up for lost time and wants to taste everything—but even she can feel the rift. Ever classy, Sarah resolves to do what’s right and reach out to Donna, no matter the risk. Can she prevent the train wreck, or will Jen and Donna derail her efforts? And if she succeeds, would some three-way makeup sex with the two women be too much to hope for?

Sarah tugged anxiously at the flimsy halter top she’d thrown on with her shorts for her mid-morning run. Now, standing on Donna Powers’ front lawn withstanding Donna’s withering assessment, she wished she’d at least taken time to put on a bra. But one advantage of her height and smallish breasts was the ability to run freely without the constraint of straps. She loved the freedom of unfettered running. She’d often wished she could run naked, but never dared try that.
She hadn’t really planned on saying hi to Jen’s neighbor this morning—though if she were honest with herself, maybe she had. This festering relationship between Jen and Donna had to come to a head, and she hoped she might be in a position to make it do so. She desperately wanted to accomplish that feat before she had to leave for the new academic year. After all, she’d inadvertently caused the split in the first place.
Her nipples hardened under the voluptuous blonde’s stare. Sarah caught herself wishing Jen’s lover hadn’t bothered with a bra either. Even so, she thought she detected the rising shadows of round nipples faintly showing through Donna’s blouse.
“I should have introduced myself earlier,” Sarah said, extending her hand. “I’m Sarah Creston.”
“I know who you are,” Donna said stiffly, peering over her shoulder toward Jen and Brett’s house across the street. She shook her head and heaved an exasperated sigh. “Oh, hell. My beef isn’t with you. It’s with my so-called best friend.”
Sarah recoiled. “Jen doesn’t want to lose you,” she blurted out. “But she’s very stubborn. You must know that.”
Donna’s scowl softened a little. “I know that very well. Guess we both share that trait.”
“So I’ve heard,” Sarah said, raising an eyebrow. “Now that we’ve met, I just want you to know I don’t want to be the cause of some sort of permanent rift between you two. I know what it’s like to lose a best friend.”
Donna nodded. “This isn’t the first fight Jen and I’ve had.” A hint of a grin played at the corner of her mouth. “But it is the first fight over another woman.”
